iPhone 4 Antenna Problems [Get this deal]
Posted on 06-27-2010 01:00:02am
As you may have heard, the iPhone 4 was released earlier this week. Many people are reporting reception problems with the phone, caused simply when covering the lower-left side of the iPhone 4, such as when holding the iPhone 4 in the palm of your left hand. People are solving the problem by holding the phone in their right hand, by covering the lower-left part of the phone with some electrical tape to avoid touching it directly, or by using a rubber (bumper) case around the iPhone 4. Regardless, this is still a bad problem which you should be aware of if you are thinking of buying iPhone 4. If you already purchased an iPhone 4 and are now concerned about this issue, you should contact Apple for assistance and consider your options within the 14-day return period of your new phone.

A bit of very good news for some people looking for a great deal on an iPhone. Since so many existing iPhone users have upgraded to the iPhone 4, you may be able to find an older iPhone at a good price. If you check Ebay, you may find a ton of people looking to sell their iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS phones.

If you are technically savvy and want to jailbreak your iPhone, it is best to find an iPhone 3G 8GB or iPhone 3G 16GB. As of today, jailbreaking an iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 are more difficult than the 3G models. Jailbreaking would add additional features to an iPhone, more than it was originally intended for. Instructions for doing so are available using methods such as Redsnow or Snowbreeze. Lots of third-party utilities are available for jailbroken phones, including software which enables it to handle a T-Mobile SIM card for using T-Mobile instead of AT&T within North America, or for use on GSM networks while overseas. So if this is up your alley, see if you can find someone who upgraded to an iPhone 4 and wants to sell you their iPhone 3G.

It is also important to note, there are many other great smartphones on the market today that are worth looking at as well.

Newegg.com - D-Link DGL-4500 Wireless Gigabit Router for $120 [Get this deal]
Posted on 06-26-2010 01:15:10am
D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme-N Wireless Gaming Router with 4 Gigabit LAN Ports, 1 Gigabit WAN port, Wireless b/g/n on either 2.4GHz frequency or Wireless a/n on 5GHz, up to 300 megabit wireless-N, and very good range. Most stores sell this router for about $160.

It is labeled as a gaming router, which basically means it has built-in QoS (quality of service) for gaming apps, to improve their performance by using its processor to assign higher priority to those packets than regular browsing, email, and download packets. In reality though, its processor improves all Internet performance, regardless whether you play games. If youre looking for one of the best consumer routers on the market today, this may be it. The $120 price may be too expensive for many people though.

This router is really meant for someone with a very high speed home Internet connection, 5 megabit minimum, or at least 8 megabit downloads and at least 1 megabit uploads. We used this router for over two years on a 20 megabit Internet connection, and connect to it wirelessly with both Wireless-G at 54-megabit and Wireless-N at full 300-megabits. Also works with wired computers up to gigabit speeds.

If you do need a powerful Internet wired router but do not need wireless (like if you already have a wireless router or wireless access point), a D-Link DGL-4100 Router for $90. It lacks any wireless and no LED display, but otherwise provides similar routing.

A router like this will not improve the speed of your PC, however. It is normal for Windows computers to collect spyware and adware over time which slows down PCs, and it is best to occasionally inoculate your PC. The place you bought your PC has anti-spyware software available, or download a free program like Spybot Search & Destroy or AVG Anti-Virus Free. Try this first before trying to improve your Internet performance by buying a better router.

Posted on 06-22-2010 08:20:05am
Energizer iPhone Extended Battery for $15 with free shipping today. It works really well, and extends the battery of an iPhone to about 70% longer than it would without an extended battery. However the Energizer also increases the thickness of the iPhone by about 75% larger. Even still, its great for someone constantly on the go and rarely finds a few hours of idle time to charge the phone throughout the day.

the Energizer device can be charged by itself (without the phone), it can be extremely useful for people constantly on the go. Buy multiple and keep one of these charged at home and at the office. If your phone needs a charge and you need to run into a meeting, run an errand, or hit the gym, grab a fully charged Energizer and it will charge your phone up without having to plug it in.

Most other stores sell it for around $37.

This will not work with the new iPhone 4.
